Daily 9am - 6pm (until 10pm on Fridays)
Paulus Potterstraat 7, Old South, Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Basics

The Van Gogh Museum is comprehensive yet not overwhelmingly vast; once inside, you can experience it in two to four hours. Touring the museum with a professional art historian, either on a group or private tour, is a great way to learn more about the master’s life and works. Many such tours also include a skip-the-line ticket, which allows you to bypass the crowds and head right inside.

Brings Van Gogh to life
What a fun tour! We learned a lot and saw amazing art. Our tour guide, Victoria, was professional, knowledgeable — and a terrific storyteller. She brought Van Gogh to life for all of us in the small group. Highly recommend. ⭐️

Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam & 1-Hour Canal Cruise
Enjoyed both the Canal Cruise as well as the Van Gough Museum. We had just arrived in Amsterdam that morning & the canal cruise was very informative. In addition, we enjoyed the refreshments (wine, beer, & cheese).

Skip-the-line Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam Private Guided Tour
Our tour guide, (Paula?) was excellent. She obviously did her homework and show photos from her iPad that made a difference in narrating Van Gogh’s life. Very knowledgeable. The tour also saved you a ton of time. Well worth it. Very nice.

Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam & 1-Hour Canal Cruise
The Van Gogh Museum was wonderful! Do not miss it. It was informative and beautiful. The whole district is amazing. Don't miss the gift shops too. They are filled with beautiful options to remember your trip! The canal cruise was also informative and fun! The audio bit was informative, and the captain added more tidbits of local information. Overall, it was a great experience. The Van Gogh Museum tickets were sold out on our day, so I was SO happy that I bought this in advance :)

Melissa is the best for Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh museums

Skip-the-line Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum Semi-Private Guided Tour
Melissa is a wonderful museum guide. Definitely do a semi-private skip-the-line tour, but I suggest one museum per day as you are able to stay in the museum when the tour is over. If you do two museums in one day you cannot go back to the first. So enjoy the tour, especially if Melissa is your guide, then stay and see everything else!

Our guide Faustina was absolutely amazing, not only her attention to detail and encyclopedic knowledge of the Van Gogh story - but her quick thinking to text me when we took a wrong turn on the third floor.

Skip the Line to the Van Gogh Museum and Access to the Tours in Amsterdam
The tour and artwork was very fulfilling as I am a huge fan of Van Gogh's work. The one negative was trouble using what you sent to get in and had to pay again for headsets, which we paid for in reservations.

Cecilia was fantastic! Brought the museum to life. We learned so much more than just walking around and reading the signs or listening to a audio guide. Fantastic museum.

The Van Gogh Museum’s Notable Works

The Van Gogh Museum houses the world's largest collection of artworks by Vincent van Gogh, including famous canvases like Sunflowers, Almond Blossom, The Bedroom, and The Potato Eaters. Through van Gogh’s paintings, the museum chronicles the artist’s journey from Holland (where his work was dark and somber) to Paris and the south of France; of special note is the second-floor wall, which displays 18 paintings produced during this time. Another wing, set partly underground, showcases temporary exhibits by van Gogh and other artists.
