Ybor City

Tampa

The Basics

Ybor City’s buildings are notable for their red brick facades and wrought iron balconies, and the area is one of only two National Historic Landmark districts in Florida. Dive into the city’s history and culture with a stop at the Ybor City Museum, then take a guided tour of a local cigar factory, and sample some of the neighborhood’s Cuban cuisine. Once the sun goes down, many local bars and restaurants offer live music.

Interesting cultural history in Ybor City
Parking was easy. Ashley was a good tour guide. You will get your steps in so wear good walking shoes. We had an early flight into Tampa before heading to the beach. The tour was at lunch time so it filled the void before checkin at the beach. Bonus, we were still full at dinner time.

This is a great experience if you are interested in learning about the history of Ybor City. The tour guide does a super and comprehensive job of telling the story of how the area came to be the way it was and is now. It is not much walking, and the number of stops is small - it is more of like a mini -lecture on the topic with a few great stops.

Yearly we connect w/ friends who live in FL, and we plan a side trip each visit (Keys, Cocoa Beach, Ft Myers, etc). This year we chose Ybor City. We chose the walking tour, and very glad we did. Tom Wolf made the choice a slam dunk. We enjoyed every minute of his lead

City history presented in an interesting format. Speaker was heard by all and program was filled with facts showing how life was in 1800's and how immigrants impacted the formation of The United States.

Tom Floyd was amazing! We had a great time. He was informative and funny. He made 2 hours fly by fast. Lots of history and sights to see. (Viator kept erroring my photos). But it’s def worth the trip. And there’s a free trolly from downtown! Also I really enjoyed Tom because he allowed us to ask questions and he did make it feel rushed and rehearsed ❤️
