Swimming in the cave was our favorite part. We are Texans and have been to the Caverns in Texas which my biased opinion is the Texas caverns are more beautiful than the Rio Secreto one but being in the water in a cave was a nice experience. Our tour guide, Aaron, was cool, helpful and funny. I would recommend everyone use the white cane regardless of fitness ability. If you do not know how to swim the tour guide will be able to help you through the deep part of the swimming. Regardless of swimming level everyone is required to wear a life jacket. The lunch buffet food was good. Two downsides: 1) you cannot take your phone or cameras in the cave so if you want to have a pic as a memory you’d need to purchase a picture from the company. I purchased 1 picture and still have not received access to it. My tour was a day ago. 2) If you are staying in Cancun, it is an all day thing. Our shuttle picked us up at 915a and we were back in our hotel around 530p.

This will remain one of the most memorable experiences of my life. I say this not only for the incredible beauty of the Cenote- almost dreamlike or out of a psychedelic vision- but also because for a 59 year old with bad ankles, a bad spine and claustrophobia, I cannot believe I went through with it. I wanted to turn back once my wet suit was on and strangling me and I saw jagged, underwater rocks that would provide no stable footing in a cave,largely in the dark, but there was nowhere I could have gone for 1.5 hours except to sit in the hot sun in the middle of nowhere, waiting for my family to return. So on I went expecting my fears to come to life. And it wasn’t easy. I would classify this incredible journey as for those in more than moderate health. You are basically hiking underwater with extremely uneven terrain in the dark, with the assistance of a hard hat with a flashlight attached to it to navigate you. It only helps you see so much. The guide is crucial, and we had Ceci. She was incredible and took my hand when I was struggling. She also loves her job and the power of Secreto Cenote. She was invaluable to my experience. About 15 minutes in, I lost most of my fear and became enthralled with this new life form surrounding me. The thousands year old rock and limestone formations were dazzling; the water the cleanest, coolest and purist in which I have ever been swimming. And floating. Some spaces were hard to squeeze through, but I had lost my claustrophobia somewhere around the 20 minute mark. This was as beautiful and awe-inspiring as anything I have ever seen. The buffet afterwards was delicious, on a lesser note. Be prepared for some very bumpy roads leading out to the El Secreto Cenote, and make sure your feet and ankles are up to such an exploration. You are walking only in water shoes- no ankle or arch support, and the terrain is unforgiving. But wow!!!!

Loved everything! We did the biking, rappelling into the cave & of course the tour inside the cave. Our guide was Angel who was great! Helped my mom who is 72 through the tour. Was very helpful & didn’t go too fast so my mom could keep up! Great job!!

Absolutely beautiful and such a unique experience. Our guide was very knowledgable and helped our two young sons, age 7 and 9, navigate the caves. I wish the photos were not so expensive since they would not let us bring our own camera and we already paid a hefty entrance fee.

We had a really enjoyable day at Rio Secreto and Tulum! The caves were just so stunning and a really interesting experience. Our tour guide Ariel was really good and put in a lot of effort to ensure everyone had a good time. Our group size was reasonable as well, and we appeared to complete our tour before it started getting busy which was good! Only thing I was a little disappointed about was that we could not take our own camera / go pro in to the cave...the photos taken for us were not very good (some blurry and poor angles) and overpriced at $100! Our trip to Tulum was also great. Ariel made effort for everyone's welfare as it was a boiling hot day and he supplied water / snacks / umbrellas etc. Beautiful place and well organised excursion!

Awesome excursion! Real life cave that was discovered in 2006. Aaron was my guide and he was Amazing! Very passionate, funny and all around a great guide. He made my birthday special by having everyone sing happy birthday to me in the dark. You can’t bring camera, must wear the gear and wash before entering the cave. There is a small hike and a ritual that is done prior to entering. The entire staff was amazing and this was the best experience ever! Must do and must see. This isn’t like visiting a cenote.

We booked the Rio Secreto Cave Tour at 9 am. Our tour guide was Paulina and she did an amazing job. It’s an incredible experience as it was, but she made it all the more memorable. The cave is beautiful, there is some really incredible history, and since we only did the cave tour, I didn’t feel like there was any “down time” or time spent waiting around. We arrived, got put into a tour group, received our gear and off we went to the cave. It was around noon when we finished up and then we received a complimentary lunch. I would highly recommend this tour!
