Lovely Island
Rachel_G
, May 2022
The island was beautiful and we had a good time. However there was only one beach we could swim in - the rest were all closed off. We paid money to rent snorkeling equipment and then the nice snorkeling areas were closed off for VIPs. It is a very commercialized island you cant really explore it freely. But it is a beautiful island and we still had a lovely time

Not the best customer service
Shannon_M
, Aug 2021
Many of the employees were rude, like they don’t want to work in the customer service industry. They were not helpful and didn’t go out of their way at all to make us feel welcome. There was one lifeguard that helped us retrieve some glasses from some deep water and another lifeguard that was friendly and funny and made us feel welcome. The inflatables ALL had missing handles and made it impossible to even climb 2 or 3 of the 5 inflatables. Even the few you could climb, they were missing at least the first few rows of handles. The yard games were not usable due to Covid. Masks were required on sidewalks but not on sand. The food was good. Snacks from the gift shop were expensive.

Favorite Island in the Bahamas
Patricia_C
, Jun 2021
This was our favorite hideaway spot in the Bahamas. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The no-pressure-to-leave option was great, we had various times to catch the ferry back to our hotel, we loved it so much we decided to stay the whole day. This place was very relaxing and beautiful, the obstacle course made it very adventurous and different than the other beaches, also the option of picking up a tube without having to pay for it or stand in line was great to experience. We opted to do the dolphin experience and must say it too was amazing and unforgettable. The dolphins seem happy and well treated, they do not seem mistreated or overworked. Lunch was included in our package, but it was not very exciting, there are not many options available.

We went in July. Unfortunately it was crazy busy. The owners of the island really need to limit the # of ppl that can go in a day.
It was beautiful on the beach but hard to enjoy with the # of ppl.
Issues we had:
1) They dont take American Express! Found this out when we got there. We had a little cash but not much. We only took 1 card with us due to concerns of losing or having them stolen. Websites dont tell you this!
2) They dont allow coolers or outside food! They check your bag on the dock as soon as you start to board. But we were never told when we booked and nothing in the website. We got lucky in that our daughter is diabetic so we had to have a cooler with some snacks and to keep her insulin cool in the heat. But this information needs to be posted in the website!
The kids inflatable area was fun but extremely difficult to get up on the inflatables. I've done this before on a lake on the east coast and didnt have issues getting up, but some of the handles on blue lagoon island were missing. Also, some entry points onto the inflatable were just too high to get up on unless you are very in shape.
It was a pretty boat ride but NOT worth the $300 we paid. Since we couldn't rent a kayak or paddle board etc (Amex situation) kids were a little bored.

The wait time was UNREAL
Rebecca_B
, Apr 2019
We booked well over a month in advance with a group of over 200 people. We had to wait an hour and half, most of us with small children for our boat. There was no apology or compensation given, we booked a 10:15 tour our bracelets indicated 9:30. The boat arrived after 11. No reason or explanation. Many of the people in our group simply asked for refunds and went elsewhere. I do not recommend this excursion, if you are in the Bahamas for a limited time (such as we were with a cruise). The island is beautiful but the waiting and waiting was a complete waste of the morning and late afternoon.

Vacay day

The boat ride over was overbooked and we had to wait too long to get to our destination. The boat ride over was the hilights of the trip. The beach was so crowded and found myself wanting to leave on the next boat back to paradise island. The snorkeling was cancelled due to the weather so that was also another disappointment. I would not do this again for money I spent, I felt it wasn’t worth it.

Waste of $
Timothy_W
, Mar 2019
It was way over crowded, and we essentially paid a lot of money for a horrible lunch. The lines were crazy long. We arrived at the departure location on time but still waited 1.5 hrs past the scheduled departure time for a ferry to take us to the lagoon. The trip was very stressful, and we couldn’t wait to leave. We will not be returning.
HORRENDOUS.

Literally the ONLY fun thing was the boat ride from the dock to the island. Ferry was an HOUR late picking us up. Not to mention, you have to grab a cab to go to the dock... but they bring you back to the port after!? Why not just let us board at the port where our cruise ship was!? Island was obviously overbooked, yet SOMEHOW Blue Lagoon/Viator allowed people to continue purchasing the excursion. There were no chairs available, the lunch was a disaster. We literally left after an hour after getting there. Ridiculous. I understand that THREE cruise ships that weren’t supposed to be there ended up docking in Nassau, but why book more than your island can handle!? Absolutely calling and getting a refund. Not worth the money in the slightest.
Boat was over an hour late to take us to blue lagoon
Nicole_Q
, Mar 2019
That made us miss half our day there. Time we were told to be there was different the the time we needed to be there so made for longer waiting time. Long line for food. All inclusive doesn’t mean all you can eat food/drinks. Should’ve been told to bring our own towels as there weren’t any there to use. We had to wait in line for a half hour to TRY to get a boat back in time. Basically, a lot of day in the sun wasted to stand in lines and wait around. We could’ve taken a boat from the port straight to blue lagoon for a few dollars more instead of the hassle to take a taxi to paradise island to then have to wait for a boat to take us there. Don’t book through viator! Pay the extra money to book from the boat. You’ll get there sooner and have more time there!

Not Worth The Money
Karen_T
, Mar 2019
While the island and area was beautiful, this excursion as a whole was completely not worth the cost. Our ferry didn't arrive on time to take us over to the island in the morning...by the time we got there and waited in line the very long line for lunch, we had less than an hour to enjoy the beach before having to head back on board the ferry to our ship. There wasn't even enough time to enjoy the attractions - so we basically paid way to much for a sandwich and very little time to relax. The staff members were all very friendly however the overall experience wasn't anywhere close to worth the cost.
Time limits.

We love Blue Lagoon Island and have visited several times. We chose to book with Viator because unlike all the other excursion companies, they advertised an 8 hour day. We selected the 8:45am departure and we were told that the last boat returning to our ship left at 4:15pm.Early in the morning of excursion day, our family of 5 (with 2 young children,) rushed to get off the ship and into a taxi to beat the crowd, only to find out at the check- in office, that the 8:45 departure was canceled and the scheduled time would be 10:15.Upon arrival to Blue Lagoon, (nearing 11:00am,) all of the “prime seating,” was occurpued, leaving us seated at the very far end of the lagoon (away from all the water activities.) During our trip, we ventured to the back part of the lagoon. After relaxing there for a bit, by pure luck, we started returning to our seats just in time to hear the announcements stating “this is the final returning boat to the cruise ports.” The was at 2:30pm. This put us back to the port around 3:15 and we did not have to be aboard until 4:30. As always- Blue Lagoon did not disappoint and our family had a great time. The disappointment came from the Viator company advertising for an 8 hour day, when in reality, the time spent at Blue Lagoon was only around 3.5 hours- just as any other company. Visiting Blue Lagoon Island is highly recommended, however, booking through Viator is no different than booking through any other company.
We perform checks on reviews
You can only submit a review or rating of an experience to Viator if you were the person who made the booking through Viator.
