Pleasant day trip option

Definitely recommend as a worthwhile day trip from Vienna but not a must-do unless you have the time. The new, comfortable bus and informative guide help pass the 6+ hour journey. Unfortunately almost all of Hallstatt was closed for the season in mid-October. It’s still very picturesque to walk around in the 2 hours of free time after the guided tour. It was also nice to be there when it wasn’t completely crammed with tourists. If you visit during the open season, the day trip is not enough time to see everything and tour the salt mines. It would be best to go on your own and spend the night to fully enjoy it.

Pleasant trip where guide...

Pleasant trip where guide prepared us for what was to happen. Beautiful town and lake. Had enough time there to wander about. Museum was excellent. Only criticism was that the trip was advertised as 8.5-10 hours and was 13 hours causing us to have to cancel dinner with my son’s family

The beauty of the churches and buildings. It rained a lot and since was off season many shops were closed. The advantage is that it was not crowded and you could see houses and buildings. Our guide spoke very good English and was very knowledgeable.

Hallstatt Trip

I had a great experience on this day trip from Vienna! It was definitely a long day, as Hallstatt is about a three hour drive from the city center. However, the ride was comfortable, and we stopped halfway on the way there and back at nice rest stops with decent food options. Despite being a long ride, the drive is quite scenic, and the tour guide provides a lot of information along the way, while also allowing some quiet time for people to take naps, which was definitely appreciated. Once at Hallstatt, there is a short boat ride of about 20 minutes, but then you have about two and a half hours to yourself to experience the village. I enjoyed being able to move around at my own pace, and see the things I wanted to see. I would definitely recommend the funicular ride to the top of the mountain for great views over the lake and surrounding area. Overall this was a great trip, and I would definitely recommend to others considering going!

visit to Hallstatt

We did day trips with Viator in the past and were always very satisfied. Unfortunately this time round it was different. We went for a day to Hallstatt from Vienna in a small van that was very uncomfortable. Although regulations were that people had to stay with a mask on, several people removed there masks as soon as they entered the van. One girl who removed her mask was constantly coughing. At least the time in Hallstatt was an experience I will never forget.

The scenery of the drive to Hallstatt and the drive back to Vienna. The entire town is Bavaria in Austria. The food is incredible. The tour guide is very knowledgeable! A definite bucket list destination for anyone.

No WiFi on a 12 hour ride and stopping at expensive highway stops not ideal. It’s a long ride there and back but a truly picturesque place to see and you only have 1 day.

i love it ^^

its 3 hours ride on the bus, but they stop halfway in a very nice restaurant. the food are delicious. and so on the way back home. there are two stops, first Traunsee, a nice short walk and see schloss orth a castle built on a tiny island. then to hallstatter see. in near hallstatt lake we get the funicular ticket to the skywalk upstairs and strolling around the wood for some free time. then we go down waiting for the boat ime while strolling around the old town to grab some lunch. after the boat ride we can choose to follow the tour guide to climb 70 steps stairs to the bone church, its small but beautiful. if you want to skip this you can choose to stroll around the old town to go directly to the meet up point. the tour guide is nice, helpful, and informative. i wish they provide a charging station on the bus. i mean its a full day trip anyway >.<
